If convicted of the charges, our client would have faced up to 7.5 years in prison.According to prosecutors in the case, our client was alleged to have had drugs inside a purse, which was located next to where she had been sitting at the time of arrest. During trial, our defense attorneys argued successfully to convince the jury that there were a number of problems with the prosecution’s narrative and what led to the arrest and charges. This includes multiple mistakes committed during the police investigation, problems with the chain of custody, and other individuals who were seen around the purse in which the drugs were located. Our defense team also noted for the jury all the inconsistencies in the police officers’ testimony, discrediting law enforcement and effectively establishing reasonable doubt in the case.After a long and hard fought trial, the jury returned a unanimous verdict of Not Guilty on Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.Thanks to the diligence, commitment, and trial skills of our Phoenix criminal defense lawyers, our client was exonerated of the serious charges she faced, and will no longer have to fear the substantial prison sentence and additional penalties that would have been imposed upon a conviction.
